IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Dear Participants,

OBSE has had to make a change on the OBX Tri this year.  NC DOT has been doing road work on the Manns Harbor bridge.  This is work that we were familiar with.  We worked to create a new bike route to accommodate the athletes. Unfortunately, the county feels that with all the other construction on the north end of Roanoke Island that any other route is unsafe.  So, with that said we must cancel the bike portion of the race.  We have exhausted all other means to do the bike portion and we are very sorry. 

We have contacted USAT, and we were instructed to do the swim/run portion of the race. WE can host an Aquathlon (Swim/Run) The event can still be ranked as a triathlon so you athletes can still use it to qualify for Age Group Nationals and National Rankings.

Once again OBSE and its board are very sorry, and we hope you understand our situation.

Friday, September 13:

• 8 a.m. - Setup Transition Area Old Building Lot
• 1-6 p.m. - Packet pick-up¹ Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
• 4-8 p.m. - Mandatory bike drop-off³ Transition Area
• 4-5 p.m. - Practice swim Swim Entrance/Exit
• 6 p.m. - Mandatory athlete meeting⁴ Fort Raleigh National Historic Site

Saturday, September 14:

• 5 a.m. - Parking opens at Fort Raleigh⁵ Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
• 5-6:30 a.m. - Shuttles begin for athletes Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
• 5:15 a.m. - T1 opens Old Building Lot
• 5:15-7:30 a.m. - Bike mechanical support Old Building Lot
• 5:30-6 a.m. - Body marking and timing chip pick-up Olympic - Pavilion
• 6-6:45 a.m. - Body marking and timing chip pick-up Sprint - Tent
• 6:30-7 a.m. - Shuttles for general public Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
• 7 a.m. - Olympic start Old Swimming Hole
• 7:10 a.m. - Sprint start Old Swimming Hole
• 7-11 a.m. - Spectator shuttles to Fort Raleigh and back
• 10-11:30 a.m. - Post-race party Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
• 10:30 a.m. - Awards - Sprint Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
• 11 a.m. - Awards - Olympic Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
